Letter to some of my friends regarding Patriotism

I am surprised listening lot of long speeches. Tell me an instant through which you proved that you all are patriot in action not in words. During my life I created employment on behalf of my company and in my own project. I used country made cloths, avoided foreign made instrument where possible, and now remitting money to establish an old home and school.

I protested and raised voice against all anarchy. Countries have become the idol of world those have freedom of speech. They criticized themselves, protested, redefined and take action to make their country better place to live in.

We are habituated concealing our sin as our forefathers took bribe, committed sin and we enjoyed lot with those ill earn money. If you want to be honest, start from your own home. Charity begins at home. The incident that I quoted, is not a separate incident. If you want, I shall write more and took my own stand to protest that. I believe - if crime remains unreported, it becomes more harmful for society.

Patriotism is not a word. It is an act of making country better. I have not taken gun in my hand to make country better. But I wrote, I taught, worked hard to create employment and to give food to my countrymen with my limited ability. I was the first BPS member among my class-mates in 1989. But I gave up all habits which can be classified as luxury and used to lead a simple life and invested for better cause and I shall keep on doing it for rest of my life.

Have you seen the treatment that our wage earners receive in airport? They are the main source of our foreign currency, with which our army buys guns, we buy costly cameras, buy Japanese cars. We remain silent and
encourage the corruption. Concealing the naked truth will not make us patriot. Because I do believe - keeping the wretched to suffer cannot be a matter of pride for the country. Those who thinks in this way may create a new definition of patriotism with which I am not agreed to.

Racism in Bangladesh

Like previous year Puja and Eid has come almost similar time. It is really an incident of great pleasure. I called today at my home and what I heard is really painful. After getting down to Australian soil I usually hear that this is a racist country. Australian’s do not allow migrants to grow. And in foreign soil it is not always easy to have the right track as we are from different culture, language and of different English accent.

Fortunately I find very few people who are really racist; who behave badly over my face. Most of the Aussie is very helpful. Usually they are law abiding and truthful what made them so civilized. In Bangladesh my elder sister, who is a doctor, works in a hospital. This year authority denied allowing her festival leave. She worked four days at a stretch during Eid Vacation. After eid vacation usually she used to get leave for four days. This year they cancelled it. They said that she would get leave only on govt. holiday for puja and would not be entitled to have leave in lieu of the four days she worked at stretch. Is it not racism? She works in a maternity called ‘Mamata’, located at Lalkhan Bazar, Ctg. It is surprising that this hospital is funded by Foreign donor agencies who talk highly about human rights, corporate governance, ethics … … …
